• One of the essential rules – never wear indoor basketball shoes when playing outside. Outdoor basketball shoe soles are made of much harder rubber, which is more resistant to wear.
• Wear basketball-specific socks. These are made from moisture-wicking fabric with special compression and cushioning zones.
• If you have two pairs of basketball shoes, rotate them regularly. Allowing shoes to rest and fully dry will extend their lifespan.
• After playing, place a rolled-up newspaper or paper inside the shoes. It absorbs moisture effectively, helping the shoes dry faster. SmellWell shoe inserts also work great for absorbing moisture and eliminating odor-causing bacteria.
• Dry your shoes at room temperature. Do not leave them in direct sunlight, on a radiator, or outside on a cold balcony during winter. Extreme temperature changes can alter the materials' properties and shorten their lifespan.
• Clean your shoes regularly to remove dirt and dust. A damp cloth, an old toothbrush, and mild soap work well. Sportpoint recommends using Crep Protect or Jason Markk shoe cleaning products.
• Many basketball shoes feature a sock-like upper that wraps around the foot during play, making them harder to put on. Consider using a small shoehorn to extend the lifespan of the shoe's heel area.
• Do not wash your shoes in a washing machine or use a dryer. Basketball shoes are designed for indoor use, and the materials used in their construction are not meant to withstand water exposure. Water can cause materials to swell, alter their properties, and lead to adhesive failures or other damage. 

Basketball shoes are the most important part of your gear on the court. Take good care of them.
